Meditations: Marcus Aurelius
A collection of personal notes and ponderings from Roman Emperor, and Stoic Philosopher Marcus Aurelius. This is the first book I have read cover-to-cover written by an ancient author. Aurelius’ casual writings has granted me great insight into the world of the ancient Romans. The people from back then are not so different from as we all exist today. They struggled with faith, laziness, fatigue, attitude, and relationships just as we do now. Moral of the story: although two millenia have passed since Aurelius originally penned these writings; life as a human being hasn’t changed all that much.
A fantastic read. I reccomend it for anyone interested in concepts of stoicism, faith, and philosophy from the perspective of men living in the ancient world.
